About Pyramid Solitaire

Pyramid Solitaire is solitaire as a math snack: 28 cards form a pyramid, and you dismantle it by picking pairs that add up to 13. Jacks count 11, Queens 12, and Kings — a perfect 13 on their own — leave the board solo. It is simple to learn, but every removal reshapes what you can reach next.

This version keeps the pressure friendly. Only uncovered cards are playable, the stock flips into a waste pile you can recycle without limits, and undo rewinds any slip. A timer and move counter tick along quietly while you chip away at the stack. Play free in your browser on desktop, tablet, or phone — no installs, no sign-up.

How to play Pyramid Solitaire

  1. Remove pairs of uncovered cards whose ranks total exactly 13 — for example 8 + 5, 10 + 3, or Queen + Ace.
  2. Aces count as 1, Jacks as 11, Queens as 12; Kings equal 13 alone, so a single tap clears them.
  3. A pyramid card only becomes playable once nothing from the row below overlaps it.
  4. Out of pairs? Flip the stock — the top waste card can pair with any open pyramid card.
  5. Recycle the stock as many times as you need, and use undo to take back any move.
  6. You win the moment the last pyramid card is gone; leftover stock and waste cards do not matter.

Controls

  • Tap or click two cards that sum to 13 to remove the pair.
  • Tap a King once to clear it by itself.
  • Tap the stock to flip a card to the waste; when it empties, tap again to recycle.
  • Undo and New game sit in the toolbar — everything works with mouse or touch.

Tips & tricks

  • Before pairing anything, locate all four cards of a rank. If both black 6s lie beneath the only available 7s, plan the dig order early.
  • Clear Kings the moment they surface — they cost you nothing and open up the rows above.
  • Dismantle the pyramid evenly; a single deep shaft leaves wide wings that keep covering each other.
  • Cycle the stock once just to scout it before committing to contested pyramid pairs.

Frequently asked questions

What are the card values in Pyramid Solitaire?

Aces are 1, number cards are face value, Jacks are 11, Queens are 12, and Kings are 13. Since a King reaches 13 on its own, it is removed alone; Queens pair with Aces and Jacks pair with 2s.

Can every Pyramid Solitaire deal be cleared?

No — some deals are impossible because a card's only partners are trapped underneath it. Unlimited stock recycles and undo raise your chances a lot, so most rounds can be won with patient play.

Do I have to empty the stock to win?

No. The game is won as soon as all 28 pyramid cards are removed, regardless of how many cards remain in the stock or waste pile.
